Introduction

The PASCO ME-9488 Cart Launcher is used with the

Introductory Dynamics System (ME-9429A or ME-9452)

to launch dynamics carts with repeatable speeds. It will

launch a 500 g dynamics cart horizontally at speeds rang-

ing from approximately 0.2 m/s to 2 m/s.

Features

• Mounting bracket - allows Cart Launcher to be

mounted to the dynamics track horizontally or vertically

• Rubber tip on launch end

• Reference scale indicates same launch setting

• Easy-pull trigger

• Adjustable latching clamp

• Hook for hanging weights for launcher calibration.

Mounting the Cart Launcher to the

Dynamics Track

The Cart Launcher mounts to the Dynamics Track in the

track’s side T-slot. See Figure 1.

The height of the Cart Launcher must be adjusted to the

level of the center of mass of the cart to get a smooth

launch. The center of mass of the cart varies, depending

on the accessories that are attached to the cart. To adjust

the height of the launcher, loosen the screw in the vertical

slot on the launcher bracket, move the launcher to the de-

sired height, and tighten the screw.

To mount the Cart

Launcher in the vertical

position for calibration,

remove the screw in

the slot of the bracket,

turn the launcher to its

vertical position, and re-

attach the launcher to

the bracket using the

other screw hole on the

launcher. See Figure

2. In the vertical posi-

tion, the Cart Launcher

should be used near

one end of the dynam-

ics track so the

launcher can be ex-

tended out over the

edge of the table.
